Precious Treasures…
My jewelry designing inspiration began back in the early 90's while traveling through West Virginia and discovering a quaint antique shop. While perusing the shop, I came upon a bag of mixed antique buttons which garnered an immediate fascination. Many were from the Victorian era and depicted nature, animals, landscapes and even fables and opera characters. I had no idea what I would do with these precious treasures, but I knew I had to buy them and find a way to share their beauty with the world. This creative desire sparked the journey of designing one of a kind jewelry pieces incorporating these vintage buttons. I sold my unique pieces at street festivals, boutiques and an art collective. After the birth of my daughter, I decided to pack up my buttons, jewelry findings and focus on raising a child . Fast forward 18 years later, I felt the compelling urge to dust off the button boxes, findings and tools and start designing again! Thus, began the inception of "Under A Gypsy Moon" jewelry.
Many of my pieces are one of a kind designs incorporating vintage buttons with repurposed antique findings\chains, freshwater pearls, crystals, metal findings, beads etc. I like to refer to these beauties as "presents from the past".
My newest line with a more contemporary and bohemian feel incorporates semi precious stones with delicate beaded chains, sterling and gold plated findings. Many of these designs can be recreated unlike the vintage button jewelry.
